The Elysian Singers, under director Sam Laughton, mark the season of Advent with a rich mix of music from Britain and Poland. "Ancient Sunlight" includes Stanford's glorious Magnificat in C, choral music by Wood, James MacMillan and Francis Grier, and carols like "The Angel Gabriel". Running through the evening and linking it together are the Seven Great Advent Antiphons, stunningly translated into 21st-century musical language by the Polish composer Pawel Lukaszewski.
